This was an incredible read. Her story is so beautiful, dark and humbling that it makes me question my worldview.
Most of the stars we know are coming from privilege. This young woman from Louisiana is different. She came from poor background. So like every social climber her dreams are big and small. She wanted to become a star, perform, but also have family, help out her parents and siblings.
I remember reading in newspapers how she had shaved her head and that she was having nervous breakdown, she was portrayed as a ginormous villain in that era, who broke hearts and used drugs. She was so young, but somehow was given task to represent all of the young women in USA without even asking.
She endured a lot, just so she could be with her kids. I am glad that she has found happiness and was very happy to read this book and know her story.
